When hairstylist Carole Haddad was diagnosed with breast cancer on Christmas Eve in 2006, she did not believe it was true.
“I pretended it wasn’t happening, then went to the doctor a few days later and it was confirmed,” she said. Ms Haddad, who owns and manages CorCorz Hair and West End, said she had surgery on New Year’s Day. “I am now in remission and feeling great,” she said.
Ms Haddad has been crowned the Cancer Council’s Pink Ambassador for 2008. “We’ve got to get the word out there about breast cancer. “It will affect almost everyone in some way,” she said.
The Cancer Council is calling on women to get their friends together for a Girls Night In event in October, in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Pink Ribbon Day on October 27.
